Youth Union of PetroVietnam join talk on succeeding heroic fire seekers

After the opening speech of Vu Thi Thu Huong, Secretary of the Youth Union of PetroVietnam, the young generation of the Oil and Gas industry and previous generations of Oil and Gas leaders together reviewed memories and traditions in the construction and development process of the Group. Dr Ngo Thuong San - Chairman of Vietnam Oil and Gas Association, former General Director of Vietnam Oil and Gas Corporation (now Vietnam Oil and Gas Group) told a story on Uncle Ho's historic visit on July 23, 1959 at Bacu Petroleum Industrial Park, Azerbaijan Republic of the former Soviet Union. This is considered an event of great significance and decisive for the formation and development of Vietnam oil and gas industry.

After 60-year implementation of Uncle Ho's wish, including 44 years of construction and development, PetroVietnam has made a challenging, difficult, arduous journey but also very glorious and proud. In each stage of the country’s development, the Party and State always paid special attention to and worked out suitable development strategies for the oil and gas industry. Thereby, the industry has actively promoted and effectively played the “locomotive” role of Vietnamese economy, which formed concentrated industrial parks stretching from North to South such as Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dong Nai, Ca Mau, Dung Quat - Quang Ngai, Da Nang, Vung Ang - Ha Tinh ... The leaders and employees of PetroVietnam, in different times have dedicated efforts untiredly and overcome many difficulties to build a complete oil and gas industry. It always affirms the position of a pillar economic group; making important contributions to the State budget annually and macroeconomic stability, ensuring energy security, and protecting national sovereignty in the sea.

At the talk, Mr. Andrey Kovtun - Head of Representative Office of Gazprom International in Vietnam, former Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Vietnam also compared the friendship between Vietnam and Russian Federation with the good relationship between Gazprom and Petrovietnam through stories of the difficulties in the 1990s, when Vietnam opened the door to welcome the world's leading oil and gas corporations. Mr. Andrey Kovtun came to work in Vietnam since 1986, when Vietnam welcomed the first ton of oil. He witnessed all the ups and downs and was very impressed with the growth and development of Vietnam oil and gas industry. In the early years of the country’s renovation process, the Vietnamese economy faced many difficulties. Thanks to the crude oil resource exploited by the Vietnam-Russia joint-venture Vietsovpetro, Vietnam earned a significant amount of foreign currency, contributing greatly to the reconstruction of the country and also strengthening the good relationship between the two countries.

Mr. Nghiem Vu Khai - Vice Chairman of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, Chairman of Vietnam - Azerbaijan Friendship Association, former Deputy Minister of Science and Technology highly appreciated the construction and development process of PetroVietnam as well as the friendship for the development of the oil and gas industry between Vietnam and Azerbaijan. Since early days of establishing relations between the two countries, Azerbaijan has trained thousands of Vietnamese experts in oil and gas, provided Vietnam with many equipment and machinery and created the foundation for the development of Vietnam's oil and gas industry. As a person who always strives to connect Vietnam with Azerbaijan, Mr. Nghiem Vu Khai talked about Azerbaijan with simple and ordinary stories, and appreciated the learning tradition to overcome difficulties of the Vietnamese staff who studied here.

Mr. Nghiem Vu Khai stressed that the contributions of collectives and individuals of PetroVietnam to the country have been recognized and honored by the Party and State awards such as the Gold Star medal, Ho Chi Minh Medal; Ho Chi Minh Prize, State science and technology prizes...

Member of PetroVietnam Board of Directors Phan Ngoc Trung answered questions that raised by the youth union members, from oil and gas exploration, exploitation, service and deep processing. to equitization. He emphasized that the future of petroleum industry is in the hands of young generations. The youth union members also received the guidance and orientation of predecessors, and reinforce pride and confidence to succeed the heroic tradition of the “Fire seekers”, and continue to develop strongly the oil and gas industry according to the wishes of President Ho Chi Minh.

On this occasion, PetroVietnam also launched the book “Legendary memoir on oil and gas projects", including articles and stories of writers and journalists who attached their works to the industry for many years. Journalist Nguyen Nhu Phong said the book writes about creative laborers working in the oil and gas industry, as well as challenges and difficulties that they have overcome to create great works, contributing to the economic development of the country.

At the end of the talk, on behalf of PVN’s leaders, Mr. Tran Quang Dung - Head of the group’s Communications and Business Culture Department emphasized the meaning of activities to celebrate “the 60-year implemetation of Uncle Ho's wish”, which is not only celebrating a historical event, but also honoring traditional values to overcome all difficulties, reinforce the belief for future development of the industry.

He expressed his hope that with enthusiasm, wisdom, aspiration of the youths, employees of the industry, especially the young generation will continue the heroic tradition from predecessors, promote their pioneering role and be aware of responsibility in the development process of the group, contributing to accomplishing political missions and production and business tasks, as well as the development of the Group, and the Vietnam oil and gas industry.
