Vinafco applies WMS software in warehouse management

30 years ago on December 16th 1987, the company formerly known as Vietnam Transportation Service Company was founded with initial resources of only 40 staff, small capital and limited material facilities. However, along with the development of the country, the company has made strong breakthroughs and growth.

Today, after 30 years of development and progresses, Vinafco has more than 600 employees with total assets of nearly VND1trillion. Its facilities include vehicles, domestic fleet of ships and modern warehouse system in key economic zones such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong and Hau Giang. The revenue of Vinafco has been growing steadily over the years, and was estimated at US$55 million by 2015. According to an official announcement by the Vietnam Report and VietnamNet Online Newspaper under the Ministry of Information and Communication, Vinafco Joint Stock Corporation is one of the 500 largest private enterprises in Vietnam in 2016 and entered PROFIT500 List –the list of Top 500 Best Profitable Companies –in 2016.

Looking back on the development period of the company, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang - General Director of Vinafco shared that the core factor of the strong growth of the company is the staff who have been working together for a long period of time, creating its own tradition and unity that can hardly be found in other working environments. The company is currently maintaining the internship programs to train talented students. In order to improve the quality of the staff and develop talents, the company also organizes many professional training courses or soft skills, management skills courses... At the same time, the company is also adopting information technology application in management to modernize services.

TMS software is used by Vinafco in transport operation

With the vision to become one of the top five players in providing integrated logistics services and supply chain solutions in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia market by 2025, Vinafco has unceasingly been promoting investment in infrastructure to improve its competitiveness. In 2016, the company officially opened the Mekong distribution center in Dong Phu Industrial Zone - Chau Thanh district - Hau Giang province with a total area of 7.4 hectares. The Mekong warehouse is the largest storage and distribution center of VINAFCO's system in particular and in the Mekong Delta region in general. In the same year, Vinafco completed the infrastructure project on Thanh Tri truck station and public service.

In the coming time, the company will conduct research on a number of potential projects to prepare for infrastructure investment for the 2017-2022 period, including the upgrade of information technology systems, and transportation and warehouse management softwares. With such many projects, in 2017 the company targets a revenue growth of 13.8 percent compared with 2016.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang acknowledged that the Vietnam logistics industry has many opportunities to make new breakthroughs. However, there are no schools training this field yet in Vietnam. Therefore, Giang hopes that universities will soon carry out logistics training and connect with enterprises to create high quality professional human resources, making it a platform for Vietnamese enterprises like Vinafco to "take off" in the international market.
