Vietnam participated in the 13th CAEXPO and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) as the Country of Honor. Do you think this is meaningful to Vietnam?

The 13th CAEXPO and CABIS were significant events to ASEAN and China following the 25th anniversary of the establishment of ASEAN-China dialogue relations and many successful summit conferences between the two sides. The outcomes of these events showed the great potential of economic, trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam, ASEAN countries and China.

Vietnam has been an active participant since the first CAEXPO event. It has made the most of opportunities from this cooperation framework and significantly contributed to its success.

Participation in CAEXPO has helped Vietnam promote the export of not only traditional products but also new and potential products such as processed agricultural products and industrial goods.

What do you think of the participation of the Vietnamese delegation in CAEXPO 2016?

The presence of the Vietnamese delegation at CAEXPO events over the past 12 years has increased continuously. As the Country of Honor at CAEXPO 2016, Vietnam was the largest ASEAN participant in the event. Apart from 140 businesses present in pavilions covering 5,000sq.m, a delegation of 50-60 other businesses accompanied the Vietnamese Prime Minister on his visit to the event. This was a record compared with other countries and Vietnamese delegations to previous CAEXPO events.

Vietnamese businesses have taken the initiative in seeking opportunities through CAEXPO events to develop market share in China and ASEAN. This once again showed the consistent policy of the Vietnamese government as well as the efforts of Vietnamese businesses to promote Vietnamese brands and attract foreign investment.

Why was Buon Me Thuot with coffee products chosen to be introduced as a City of Charm at CAEXPO 2016?

As the Country of Honor at CAEXPO 2016, Vietnam had many things to introduce to ASEAN partners and China. However, the city of Buon Me Thuot with coffee products was the best choice to give them an overview of the advantages and competitiveness of the Vietnamese economy as well as geographical and cultural specifications of Vietnam.

Coffee is a familiar beverage to people around the world and especially people in Vietnam - the third largest coffee exporter. Therefore, the City of Charm pavilion of Vietnam at CAEXPO 2016 was highly appreciated. Visitors proved keen to see images of the Vietnamese coffee at this pavilion, which to some extent could symbolize most of Vietnam’s charm and economy.
