Two events weld state-of-the-art tech with industrialists

The joint events will offer a comprehensive platform for Vietnamese and foreign industrialists to explore the latest technologies and solutions in metalworking and surface treatment, welcoming some 10,000 specialists from relevant industries.

In advance of the two shows, Reed Tradex Vietnam recently held a forum to discuss “How Advanced Technologies Support Vietnamese Manufacturers in Joining the Global Supply Chain”.

At the forum, Vu Trong Tai, General Director of Reed Tradex Vietnam said digitalized smart factories with advanced technology would help businesses improve production capacity and reduce costs. “We are in a special period with tremendous opportunities to develop production and engage more deeply in the global supply chain, but along with the opportunities are challenges that are not easily overcome. The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) will open up large markets while bringing in much tougher competition for Vietnamese manufacturers,” Tai said.

According to Huynh Phong Phu, Local Business Manager of Robotics and Discrete Automation, ABB Vietnam - a registered participant of Metalex Vietnam 2019, modern technology is crucial for enterprises wishing to join the global supply chain and improve their capabilities.

Support industries in Vietnam have reached record growth rates since the appearance of such world-leading manufacturers as Samsung, LG, Toyota, Honda, Canon, and Brother (major members of the global supply chain) in Vietnam, Phu said. The state-of-the-art technology of these global giants has also resulted in rapid development of Vietnamese manufacturers and assemblers and compliance with international production regulations and standards. These two factors have been helping Vietnamese support industries develop both quantitatively and qualitatively, he added.

At the forum, Nguyen Duy An, Founder of the Anh Duong Co., Ltd. - the exclusive agent for Polysoude/EWM and a registered participant of Welding Vietnam 2019 talked about orbital welding technology and applications - one of the latest technologies in the field.

An said orbital welding technology is widely used in the manufacture of components for the semiconductor industry, and pipeline and equipment projects in other industries such as food processing, pharmaceuticals, chemical engineering, automotive engineering, biotechnology, shipbuilding and aerospace.
