Switzerland supports Vietnam's Covid-19 fight with tonnes of medical equipment

(VEN) - Thirteen tonnes of medical equipment donated by Switzerland to aid Vietnam's fight against Covid-19 arrived in Ho Chi Minh City today.

The equipment comprised 30 ventilators, 500,000 antigen test kits and 280,000 medical facemasks worth around US$5.5 million (VND126 billion).

The humanitarian aid, transported from Zurich to Ho Chi Minh City by a special flight of Swiss airline Edelweiss, was received by Swiss Consul General Martin Maier and handed over to Dr. Nguyen Truong Son, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Health.

Switzerland stands with Vietnam and other countries in Asia in the common fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, Maier said.

Swiss medical assistance has also been delivered to Thailand, Indonesia, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Nepal and India.
