Siemens consolidates leading position in Vietnam

Could you tell us about Siemens’ operations in Vietnam?

Siemens has positioned itself as a pioneer in the Vietnamese market with a series of products and effective technological solutions serving the most important economic sectors. We are currently the leading unit in terms of technology innovation in energy, industry, transport, infrastructure and health.

The company’s power equipment and products have contributed around 14 percent to total annual power output. We are the leading provider in terms of steam turbines for thermal power plants. In addition, Siemens is one of the leading units in supplying 500 KV substations for Dai Ninh, Quang Ninh, Song May, Son La, Doc Soi, Duyen Hai and Mong Duong 1 power stations.

Siemens has also provided products and comprehensive solutions from prevention and early detection to diagnosis, treatment and after treatment regarding health.

Products and solutions for automation and effective and saving power transmission have been widely applied in many key industries such as paper, cement, steel, food and beverage and brewing.

Vietnam has made greater efforts in reforming the market economy and creating the fair business environment. How do you evaluate its reform?

We highly appreciate the efforts of the Vietnamese government in improving the business environment for foreign investors. We have benefited greatly by administrative procedure reform in recent years, especially the implementation of online administrative procedures and electronic customs procedures.

Siemens welcomes amendments and supplements in the new laws on investment and enterprise that took effect from July 1, 2015, especially the efforts to provide transparency of licensing certificates and publish the list of limited sectors in terms of trade and investment. The Law on Procurement also has many new points that are expected to promote transparency and fair competition, paving the way for the country’s sustainable economic development. The Vietnamese government is taking the right direction. Siemens hopes that the government will continue strengthening reform and devising practical policies to create the fair business environment for all investors.

What targets and plans does Siemens have for the near future?

Vietnam is strongly influenced by urbanization and climate change. As the leading unit in technology innovation and green technology, we are ready to accompany with Vietnam in resolving the challenges posed by these trends. According to our vision, Vietnam remains a long-term and trusted partner.
