Quang Ninh’s impressive marine tourism

(VEN) - Quang Ninh has potential for tourism development, especially its coastal areas and islands which are viewed as most appropriate for spiritual and cultural tourism development. According to Tran Van Ngoan, Head of the Sea and Island Sub-Department under the Quang Ninh Province Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Quang Ninh is focusing on impressing domestic and foreign visitors via its sea and island tourism branding.

Quang Ninh’s sea and island tours are always attractive to visitors

Quang Ninh boasts of attractive destinations and festivals including Bach Dang historical relic, Vua Ba Temple, Tran Hung Dao Temple, Tien Cong festival in Quang Yen Town, Quan Lan festival in Van Don District, Cua Ong Temple festival in Cam Pha Town and Long Tien Pagoda festival in the city of Ha Long. The provincial tourism has managed to offer tourists new tours including Ha Long – Hon Xep Park, Vung Duc – Hon Xep Park and Cai Rong – Minh Chau.

Quang Ninh has also collaborated with Hai Phong to develop Ha Long – Cat Ba tours, including ferries between Tuan Chau and Cat Ba. The province is preparing for the construction of a VND10 billion 25.2km-long road connecting the Dinh Vu Port in Hai Phong to Ha Long, which is expected to act as a key route connecting Quang Ninh, Hai Phong and Hanoi with other provinces and cities.

Recognizing increasing international integration and competition among destinations, Quang Ninh has paid attention to tourism administration, implementing various drastic measures and specific sanctions, with the assistance of local people and tourists. For example, it publicizes several hotlines, with which visitors can book a tour or complain about tourism services.

With its sea and island branding determination, Quang Ninh has gradually asserted itself impressively to visitors and thrived on tourism despite the economic slowdown at home and abroad. As of the end of 2014, it had recorded 7.5 million visitors, including 2.6 million international visitors, and VND5.5 trillion in tourism revenue. In the first eight months of 2015, Quang Ninh had recorded more than 6 million visitors, an 8 percent increase over the same period last year, including nearly 1.7 million international visitors, a 2 percent increase, and about VND4.23 trillion in tourism revenue, a 21 percent increase.

This year, Quang Ninh aims to welcome 7.7 million visitors, including 2.7 million international tourists, and record VND6.5 trillion in tourism revenue. With local natural advantages and human determination, Quang Ninh is likely to make a success of marine tourism branding, according to experts.
