PV Gas Vung Tau holds conference on safety, health and environment

Chaired by Tran Nhat Huy, Director of PV Gas Vung Tau, the conference summarized the results of safety tasks in 2018 and early 2019 and proposed the orientation for the coming time. Accordingly, no workplace accident happened in 2018 and the first four months of 2019, and 2018 was the 20th consecutive year to see no accident at PV Gas Vung Tau. The reliability of almost 100 percent of gas processing equipment has been maintained at a high level. The company has abided by regulations on security, safety, health, environment, fire prevention and control and emergency rescue. PV Gas Vung Tau has maintained effective operations of its safety, quality and environmental management systems. It uses Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure and evaluate the effectiveness of processes.

PV Gas Vung Tau has maintained periodical medical examinations once a year for all staff members and workers and twice a year for those working in a dangerous and toxic environment. Female workers are provided with medical examination twice a year. Occupational disease examinations are provided twice a year for 100 percent of workers suffering excessive noise at the workplace. In 2018, worker health improved considerably compared with previous years, with no occupational disease detected.

In 2019, the company continues attaching great importance to ensuring safety, security and maintaining uninterrupted operations of gas works, especially during periods of major repairs and maintenance. Along with further improving and streamlining the management system, the company continues using KPIs to measure the effectiveness of processes. At the same time, it maintains coordination with contractors to ensure safety during the implementation of the PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV Gas)’s projects.

Conference participants presented speeches and contributed opinions on measures to ensure safety and improve the management system at PV Gas Vung Tau.

Company Director Tran Nhat Huy highly appreciated PV Gas Vung Tau workers’ safety performance and emphasized that ensuring safety will remain the most important task, especially during periods of major repairs and maintenance of gas works. The company will improve the quality of training and provide safety instructions through software tools and online tests. It will check processes to remove unnecessary procedures. Strict sanctions will be applied to contractors violating safety regulations. PV Gas Vung Tau will also enhance its capacity for dealing with emergencies.

At the conference, the company honored its workers for their achievements in implementing the STOP campaign. Awards were presented to Dao Duc Duong, Nguyen Thien Hai, Ha Quoc Vu, Nguyen Van Thong, Phi Van Thuan, Nguyen Duy Ky, Nguyen Viet Hoang, Nguyen Tien Long, Tran Van Dai, Nguyen Trong Trung and Le Huu Vui.
