PV Gas South Trade Union: Strong support for workers

With active participation of workers, these activities have contributed significantly to the successful implementation of annual production and business plans of the company. Over the past five years, PV Gas South has achieved rapid growth and fulfilled or even exceeded the targets assigned to it. With much experience in operating, maintaining and repairing equipment, trade union members have proposed technical improvement initiatives helping the company fulfill production and sales plans while at the same time reducing production costs.

The trade union’s executive committee members, especially its chairperson, have taken active part in the process of making company policies related to worker interests. They raised their opinions about worker salaries, bonuses and workplace disciplines, as well as occupational safety and hygiene, when working with the company’s management board.

The organizational structure of the company has improved. Its human resources have been provided with additional training to meet their job requirements. Worker incomes have increased annually. Policies related to working time, social and health insurance, maternity leave and allowance, sickness benefits, salaries and bonuses have been implemented seriously.

All workers at PV Gas South have been offered suitable jobs with stable incomes and enjoy improving spiritual and material lives. Role model campaigns have been launched, attracting active participation of most employees and yielding positive results, helping increase labor productivity.

The company’s trade union has also contributed significantly to improving the working environment to prevent workplace accidents and occupational diseases. It has organized diverse activities to disseminate information and improve worker awareness, encouraging them to abide by safety regulations of PV Gas, as well as state regulations on occupational safety. The trade union has also launched movements encouraging workers to plant trees and not to smoke at the workplace. Members of the trade union executive committee have participated in designing and monitoring the implementation of worker insurance plans. They also joined safety inspection delegations to different units.

Apart from policies that offer workers periodic health examinations, annual relaxation tours, retirement and health insurance, and gifts on special occasions and major holidays, the company’s trade union executive committee has also requested the trade union of PV Gas to provide support for workers when they are in difficult situations. In the 2012-2017 tenure, more than 500 PV Gas South trade union members received allowances from the oil and gas sector’s support fund. Every year, the company’s trade union sends delegations to visit and present gifts to members who have retired, paying special attention to those who face difficulties or dangerous diseases.

In the coming period, PV Gas, in general, and PV Gas South, in particular, will continue facing difficulties due to sharp declines in global oil prices that will adversely affect domestic businesses. This requires PV Gas South to find the optimal way to maintain safe operations and fulfill production and business plans assigned by PV Gas. The company’s trade union will continue bringing into play its role in protecting worker interests, strengthening solidarity among all staff members and workers, and encouraging them to contribute to PV Gas South’s development.
