PV GAS holds conference to promote safety, health of its operations

PV Gas General Director Duong Manh Son opens the conference on Safety, Health, Environment

Speaking at the opening ceremony, General Director of PV GAS Duong Manh Son said: “The conference is an open, frank forum which gathers practical ideas to constantly improve the quality of safety-health-environmental management from the corporation level to all of its affiliates and members.”

Detailed PV Gas reports on its 2020 activities and plans for 2021 were presented to conference participants, who offered contributions for specific action plans.

Corporation officials reported that in 2020, PV Gas operations ensured safety, continuity and efficiency, providing maximum gas output despite the complicated Covid-19 epidemic. PV GAS detected problems early on and proactively responded to emerging epidemic spread and other problems affecting business and production operations.

The presidium runs the conference

In order to implement the 2020 safety-health-environment goals, all PV GAS activities were assessed and risks were updated to formulate appropriate control and prevention measures. This is the third consecutive year that the reliability of the gas systems has reached 100 percent, contributing to improving gas output for customers.

PV GAS also strictly followed safety management regulations in investment and construction projects, and in registry, inspection and insurance. It ensured the security and safety of its information technology, fully implemented patrol and protection of gas works, and effectively implemented the Safety Training Observation Program (STOP) and the 5S program providing health care for workers, environmental protection, and inspection at all levels.

The conference spent most of the time for open discussion on safety issues in PV GAS operations, especially problems and solutions and effective innovation and coordination in the safety-health-environment system. It emphasized the safety and spread of safety culture internally as well as with domestic and foreign partners, application of national regulations on securing gas works; proactively preventing epidemics; developing safety and hygiene staff; promoting communications and keeping pipelines safe.

Attendees contribute their ideas at the conference

On behalf of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam), Deputy General Director of PVN Le Xuan Huyen urged PV GAS to continue paying close attention to safety, health and environmental issues, provide sufficient resources for this work, and regard it as an integral part of its business and production operations from the planning stages and throughout the implementation process. Huyen also urged raising safety standards to new heights in parallel with development of the gas market, while developing the LNG business segment.

The Board of Directors also called on its affiliates, members and staff to uphold the sense of responsibility, overcome shortcomings and proactively complete tasks, contributing to the sustainable development of the corporation and of PetroVietnam.
