PV GAS donates VND5 billion to Da Nang’s pandemic victims

(VEN) - The Petrovietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS) recently donated VND5 billion to the Da Nang Women’s Union, helping the union ease the effects of Covid-19 control activities, including support for those hard hit by the pandemic.

From July 10 to August 6, the southern central city of Da Nang reported almost 2,000 cases of Covid-19. Responding to General Party Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s call for prevention and control of the pandemic and following Resolution 08-NQ/TU dated July 30, 2021 on pandemic control of the Da Nang City Party Committee’s Executive Board, the Da Nang Women’s Union launched a program to raise funds for its activities and for struggling women’s families in the city.

Gifts delivered on August 8 to struggling women and pandemic control forces in Da Nang

On August 8, 2021, using part of the PV GAS donation, the Da Nang Women’s Union awarded 5,000 gifts worth VND300,000 each to women’s unions of seven districts in the city. Hardest hit by the pandemic, Son Tra District alone will receive 1,000 of the 5,000 gifts.

The Da Nang Women’s Union will continue to call for donations and contributions for pandemic-hit individuals and organizations and pandemic control forces while coordinating with the Da Nang Women Entrepreneurs Association to open zero-dong supermarkets and give 1,500 gifts to poor women severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Leaders of the Da Nang Women’s Union visited and donated 100 cartons of milk to the Da Nang Lung and Respiratory Diseases Hospital.

PV GAS has actively supported the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic and implementation of social security policies in Da Nang. In 2020 and 2021, PV GAS donated VND173 billion to programs and pandemic prevention and control activities in numerous hospitals and localities throughout the country. In 2020, PV GAS donated VND500 million to the Da Nang Center for Disease Control, helping the city control the pandemic.

The corporation donated VND2.4 billion to the Da Nang Department of Health, helping the department procure medical equipment for the pandemic’s prevention and control. In 2021, apart from joining the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group’s (Petrovietnam) program for donations to the National Covid-19 Prevention and Vaccine Fund (PV GAS donated VND135 billion and Petrovietnam donated the remainder), PV GAS helped develop vaccine funds in different localities, including donations of VND10 billion to Da Nang City’s vaccine fund.
