(VEN) - The Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) has donated VND50 billion to the Covid-19 vaccine fund.

The Group’s parent company contributed VND10 billion; PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS) VND10 billion; Vietnam-Russia Joint Venture (Vietsovpetro) VND5 billion; Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company (BSR) VND5 billion; PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power) VND 5 billion, PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP) VND5 billion, PetroVietnam Transportation Corporation (PVTrans) VND5 billion and the PetroVietnam Ca Mau Fertilizer Joint Stock Company (PVCFC) VND5 billion. Petrovietnam is also calling on its member units to continue supporting the fund.

At the May 28 ceremony announcing the donation, PetroVietnam President and CEO Le Manh Hung said Petrovietnam had long cooperated with ministries, sectors, agencies, organizations and businesses in the prevention and control of the pandemic.

Group employees have also provided contributions together with the Ministry of Health, sectors and localities in the prevention and control of Covid-19 and in the deployment of the vaccination program. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the Group’s employees have donated VND100 billion to control and eradicate the disease.

Hung thanked them as well as the medical teams and all other officials and people who have engaged in the disease prevention and control and helped maintain a stable environment for safe and effective business operations, in general, and Petrovietnam’s, in particular.

Since the resurgence of the Covid-19 epidemic in late April 2021, Petrovietnam and its member units have donated tens of billions of dong to the health sector and localities on the front lines of the fight against the pandemic. At the same time, to protect the health of 56,000 oil and gas workers, the Vietnam Oil and Gas Trade Union has supported affiliated unions with VND2.8 billion for essential supplies.

Petrovietnam has also implemented a series of proactive measures such as extensive testing and helping administer the first phase of vaccinations against Covid-19 for its employees.

Petrovietnam and its member units will actively coordinate with ministries, sectors and health facilities to continue deploying the vaccination program for all employees in the Group.
