New tech exchange a 4.0 fillip for Ba Ria - Vung Tau

The opening ceremony for the exchange was held on December 5 at the Science, Statistics and Technology Information Center of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Department of Science and Technology.

The event was attended by several dignitaries and senior officials including Mr. Nguyen Hong Linh, Secretary of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Tran Van Tuan, Vice Chairman of provincial People's Council, Mr. Dang Minh Thong, Vice Chairman of provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Pham Xuan Da, Chief of Department, National Agency in Southern Region under Ministry of Science and Technology, and representatives of relevant departments, universities, colleges, associations, business associations within and outside the province.

Bavutex.vn will be a site for gathering and disseminating demand and supply information about equipment, results of scientific research, inventions and utility solutions applied in various fields of production. It will contribute to creating a credible and reliable business environment, directly facilitating technology transactions between enterprises, organizations and individuals.

Launched after more than two years of development and trial operations, the exchange has the mission of fostering an online trading environment where businesses can offer and buy technology and equipment easily, quickly and effectively.

The exchange has created conditions for businesses, organizations and individuals in the province to approach and familiarize themselves with new and modern business forms, helping enterprises accelerate commercial promotion for scientific products.

Importantly, the exchange promotes technology transfer from abroad, providing foreign investors and enterprises a good opportunity to explore cooperation opportunities in Ba Ria - Vung Tau. So far, there have been 216 transactions on the exchange involving more than 900 suppliers and more than 300 products. In a short while, 272 organizations and consultants have registered to join bavutex.vn, demonstrating its utility.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Thong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, said that Ba Ria - Vung Tau is orienting itself towards developing environmentally-friendly industries using modern advanced technologies. Hence, the provincial leadership attaches special importance to development of a science and technology market, he added.

Thong further said that in order for bavutex.vn to operate effectively, the provincial Department of Science and Technology should promote the exchange on mass media to attract more enterprises and organizations to join and engage in transactions on the site. It should also strengthen training for the staff to operate bavutex.vn in a way that makes it an effective intermediary connecting scientific research units with enterprises.

Besides, Thong said, the department should focus on: supporting start-ups in innovation; applying the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0) for socio-economic development; instructing and guiding researchers to register copyrights; and selecting good and practical subjects suitable for inclusion in the list of scientific research programs in the province.

After the opening ceremony, a conference on "Trends in development of intelligent agriculture 4.0" was presided over by Mr. Mai Thanh Quang, Director of the Ba Ria -Vung Tau Department of Science and Technology. The workshop aimed to introduce and discuss intelligent agriculture 4.0 models that could be applied effectively in Vietnam in general and the province in particular.
