The Fine Arts Museum in Đà Nẵng officially opened at 78 Lê Duẩn Street on Monday after undergoing a year of preparation and building work.

The museum, the only one of its kind in the Central and Central Highlands region, has a total area of 1,100sq.m, displaying 413 works by artists from the city and provinces in the region.

The centre comprises three spaces for displaying contemporary fine arts, sculpture and paintings, and regular exhibitions.

The museum is join popular cultural destinations for tourists such as the Chăm Sculpture Museum and the Đà Nẵng Museum.

Đà Nẵng is well known as a centre for stone arts in the central region, and the craft became more popular during the tourism boom in the early 1990s.

According to a recent report, the city hosted 5.5 million tourists in 2016, of which 1.6 million were foreigners.
