Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 4MATIC introduced at VIMS 2017

First launched in late 2014, the GLA quickly became the best-selling CBU vehicle of MBV. The GLA greatly contributed to the 300% growth of the brand’s SUV line-up in 2016. In August 2017, MBV introduced the 2 facelifted variants of the GLA 200 and the GLA 250 4MATIC. At VIMS 2017, MBV officially introduced the high performance variant of the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 4MATIC.

The Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 4MATIC owns the most robust 4-cylinder engine with up to 381hp. The rated torque of 475 Nm can be reached at 2.250 rpm, enabling the vehicle to eagerly move forward at every accelerator step. In spite of an SUV look, the GLA 45 4MATIC only weighs 1,585 kg. This allows the car to spring from rest to 100km/h within 4.4 seconds, becoming one of the current fastest accelerating cars in the world. It takes only a blink of an eye to change the gearshift thanks to the renowned AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7 speed sport transmission. On the facelifted version, gear ratio and shifting mapping have been adjusted, which offers smoother and more efficient operation. In order to put 381hp under control, a large drilled high performance AMG brake is also equipped.

The model is also fitted with RACE START quick acceleration function. When switched from ESP to “Sport handling mode”, clutching, the GLA 45 4MATIC can push the torque up to 4.000 rpm. When brake is released, the vehicle will quickly move forward with resounding AMG performance exhaust system. Whether staying inside or outside of the car, either the driver or passengers will be enthusiastic to the utmost thanks to the AMG exhaust tailpipe and 12 speaker Harman Kardon® Logic 7® surround system with the total output of 450 watt. The Panorama sunroof will offer occupants the opportunity to enjoy the lively symphony of speed.

In terms of exterior, the most visibly different feature on the GLA 45 4MATIC facelift is the AMG front apron with striking louvres in the three vertical air intakes in cool Panamerica style. The rear bumper owes its new look to a larger diffuser. The vehicle has now been equipped with full-LED headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lamps and Adaptive Highbeam Assist. The LED rear lights have been redesigned with 2 parallel optical fibers in eye-catching crystal effect. Especially, a brand new energetic color is available for the GLA – Canyon yellow. Despite its compact size, the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 4MATIC owns a robust appeal with large wheel arches. The muscular shoulders over the rear axle are highlighted by the inward taper of the C-pillars. 19-inch 5-twin-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels going with 235/45R19 tires brings about the greatest road-gripping ability when combing with the 4MATIC all-wheel drivetrain.

The Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 4MATIC has been upgraded with Active Parking Assist including PARKTRONIC, making parking in limited urban space much easier. Reverse camera is a standard option on all variants, transmitting clear vision to the 8-inch TFT screen. Interior space has become livelier thanks to AMBIENT LIGHTING system with 12 colors for occupants to choose from. 2-zoneTHERMOTRONIC automatic climate control offers comfortable experience to passengers. Other conveniences integrated in the vehicle include GPA and navigation systems; reverse camera or COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS (CPA Plus). CPA Plus helps to prevent or mitigate the impacts of collision thanks to its automatic decelerating function.

The high seating position as well as the wide view of an SUV will assist drivers in controlling the car. With ideal ground clearance, the GLA brings the confidence to drivers in dealing with obstacles. The rear seat backrest can be angled into a so-called "cargo" position, increasing space for luggage when necessary. The large EASY-PACK tailgate able to widely open is really useful for accessing the 481-litre load compartment.
