Manulife Vietnam helps combat climate change with latest forest pledge

Billed as an interactive week-long exhibition, the event was centered around Manulife’s Impact Agenda and gave employees a unique chance to engage with the company’s efforts to build a better business to better the world.

The Impact Agenda consists of three interconnected pillars that focus on areas where Manulife has the greatest ability to affect change. It’s designed to help guide Manulife in making decisions about the future of its businesses in each of the markets where it operates, ultimately driving innovation, services, products and community investments.

The Manulife Customer Forests represent an important investment in helping customers embrace healthy or new digital habits. Developed to incentivise customer behaviours, the program also increases carbon capture and raises awareness of environmental conservation efforts in Vietnam.

“Large-scale tree planting initiatives not only helps tackle climate change and restore biodiversity, they also send an important message that change is needed and each of us can make a difference,” said Marilyn Wang, Chief Marketing Officer, Manulife Vietnam.

“With our Manulife Customer Forests, we want to highlight the environmental benefits of going digital and help change long-term customer habits – in this instance around our reliance on paper. Manulife has committed to reducing its paper volume by 35 percent by 2025 and ensuring the remaining paper is from sustainable sources.”

As part of Manulife Vietnam’s ongoing digital transformation, customers are being encouraged to embrace technology as a way of simplifying and improving their interactions with the company.

During the latest tree planting campaign, which runs from 28 November through to the end of December 2022, Manulife Vietnam is encouraging customers to register to use the ManuConnect portal.

Manulife Customer Forests are located in four provinces around Vietnam and include a total commitment of 24,200 trees to be planted across 12.8 hectares by 2023

The campaign aims to incentivise 15,000 customers to go digital and register with ManuConnect. In return, Manulife Vietnam will plant up 15,000 trees on their behalf in Ca Mau Forest in Cape Car Mau National Park, Ca Mau Province.

The ManuConnect website is designed to offer a fully online self-servicing experience, giving customers the ability to review and manage their policies. It additionally serves as a knowledge center that stores all the customer’s ePolicies, transaction details, personal information and claims history. The ManuConnect platform was recently upgraded with new Digital Onboarding and Policy eAcknowledgement features that will help customers self-manage their policies.

Run in partnership with Gaia Nature Conservation, the Manulife Customer Forests are located in four provinces around Vietnam and include a total commitment of 24,200 trees to be planted across 12.8 hectares by 2023. According to Gaia Nature Conservation, each hectare of plantation forest can absorb about 99-123.2 tonnes of CO2 per year.
