International Rugby returns RMIT from 16-17 September

(VEN) - This year marks the 3rd consecutive year the Al Fresco’s Group (AFG) have hosted an International Rugby Tournament at RMIT University. The tournament is organized by AFG, in cooperation with the Wolf Blass and the Castelo Group, Hong Kong, at RMIT University, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City from 9am to 6pm, on 16-17 September 2017.

International Rugby returns RMIT from 16-17 September

This year, the tournament welcomes 28 teams from more than 10 countries. This is the first time the tournament has the participance of Female Rugby players from five, “All Female Teams".

Besides putting Vietnam on the map for the local and regional circuits of International Rugby Teams who wish to travel, compete and enjoy fun rugby tournaments, the organizers of Wolf Blass Saigon Rugby 10s would like to focus on the tournament’s hospitality as well as organising an entertaining sporting event.

The tournament also has a lot of interesting activities for both kids and adults besides great rugby, food and drink. There’s a fun activation area hosted by ISHCMC for kids, Rugby kid coaching clinic. There is also a DJ playing during the days of tournament…The tournament enriches the weekend entertainment activities in Saigon and provides an exciting playground for players, sponsors, officials and spectators who wish to enjoy a family day out and watch live sports.

Saturday is the first part of the tournament, and will host all of the group games. This year they’ve split the categories. Full-on go, where teams hit hard, a veteran’s pool of players over 35, and this year for the first time Rugby 10s will host women’s rugby.

Everyone will get to watch some great rugby from some international teams that have never stepped foot in Vietnam before.

“We’ve got bookings already for next year,” said Peter Holdsworth, the AFG’s Marketing Manager. “Teams from New Zealand and South Africa have already booked their spots. Ideally, we’d love this to be a 100-team tournament, to get more community involvement, and to incorporate additional sport, such as touch rugby. There is so much potential for this event.”

He added: “This year we are very excited to have Wolf Blass Wine, Australia, commit to a three year naming rights sponsors contract and we hugely appreciate such a prestigious wine company as Wolf Blass for their support and belief of the Saigon 10’s event”.

This is not just great days of International Rugby, it is the BIG DAYS OUT for the whole family!

Free Entrance and the action starts from 9am until 6pm at RMIT’s stadium (702 Nguyen Van Linh, District7, HCMC), on Saturday and Sunday, 16-17 September 2017.
