Herbalife Vietnam supports Life and Health Newspaper in organising the Awards Ceremony to recognise the 12 most inspiring stories from over 1,000 participants in the contest “Better Me”.

Premier nutrition company Herbalife Vietnam supports the Life and Health Newspaper under the Ministry of Health to organise the “Better Me” Awards Ceremony which is broadcast live on VTC1 and on the suckhoedoisong channel on youtube and facebook. The Awards Ceremony is held in the presence of leaders from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and representatives from departments under the Ministry of Health.

The “Better Me” contest, which took place over three rounds in three months, from August 11 to November 20, has encouraged people from all corners of the country to exercise regularly in the spirit of “Health-Beauty” and received thousands of entries. In the final round, the 12 most outstanding contestants were selected for the Awards Ceremony on November 30, with one special prize, one first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes and five fourth prizes. The organising team also awarded an “Inspiring Character” Award to two contestants with the most inspiring stories.

Vu Van Thang, General Manager for Herbalife Vietnam and Cambodia said: “This is the first time this initiative has been introduced and we are so impressed with the high responsiveness from audiences nationwide. We would like to thank each and every participant in this contest who has helped send out a strong message promoting healthy active lives through their wonderful changes. I hope the healthy habits built during this contest will continue to be shared widely with the public and more people will start making positive changes for their bodies right from today”.

According to the Vietnam National Institute of Nutrition, the country has about 12.5 million new cases of people with hypertension, 3.5 million people with diabetes and 2 million people with cardiovascular diseases each year as a result of nutritional imbalance and lack of physical activity and sports. In addition, according to a survey by the Ministry of Health, 28.7% of the Vietnamese population is faced with health risks as a result of their lack of exercise.

Tran Tuan Linh, Editor-In-Chief of Life and Health Newspaper and Head of the Contest Organising Committee said: “The efforts and determination of thousands of candidates of the Better Me contest for three months under the consistent spirit of “science-based nutrition – proper exercise” have not only created positive physical changes for each contestant but also strongly inspired the community to adopt healthy habits.
