Hanoi promotes trade with Netherlands, Germany

Hanoi's footwear businesses continue to explore the European market

These businesses accompanied a delegation of officials from the Hanoi Industry and Trade Department on their recent working visits to the two countries. During the time they stayed in the Netherlands, the delegation coordinated with the Vietnamese trade office and embassy in this country and SLEM (Shoes Leather Education Museum), an international innovation and education center for footwear, to organize a workshop to promote relations with Dutch leather and footwear businesses.

They also had meetings with the Center for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries, SLEM, and Stahl, a leading company in process chemicals for leather products and performance coatings, to learn about modern shoe manufacturing technologies and new leather materials for the footwear and fashion industries in the Netherlands. A survey on the local footwear and fashion markets was carried out through major trade centers, Hanoi Industry and Trade Department Deputy Director Nguyen Thanh Hai said.

Many Dutch businesses have shown their interest in Vietnamese products. The Phong Chau Company Limited and Ha Tay Chemical-Weave Company Limited are negotiating product supply contracts with Dutch partners.

In Germany, Hanoi’s businesses participated in the Global Destination for Shoes and Accessories (GDS) Trade Fair which took place from July 26-28 and presented nearly 800 brands and products of 180 businesses from different countries. They brought to the fair a variety of leather, footwear and fashion products that were suitable for sale in the European market. Within just three days, Hanoi’s businesses carried out transactions with about 200 customers at GDS pavilions. Some companies currently continue negotiating detailed cooperation contracts with potential customers. For example, the Phong Chau Company Limited negotiates with Kaufland, Truffaut, Novel, K&K, Palm Shoes, Spida Group, and Porio Grupo; the Thang Long Shoes Joint Stock Company negotiates with Atom Group, Pfaf Industrial, Ring Maschinenbau GmbH, Amann Group; the Ha Tay Chemical-Weave Company Limited negotiates with Sportland (Middle East), Bany Flat (South Korea), Capwave, Planet (Germany), Basu Design, Felia Shoe and Accessories (Netherlands); Atshoes negotiates with Vastness AB JianHao, Techno Trends, and Cabani Shoes; the Thuy Khue Shoes Company Limited is negotiating with the Novi Footwear International Co., Ltd in Vietnam and manufacturing some kinds of products for export to Europe as ordered by Samson Worldwide Int’l Ltd.

The Hanoi Industry and Trade Department coordinated with the ISC Training Center to organize a workshop to promote relations with leather and footwear businesses from the Pirmasens region, Germany. They visited the ISC Training Center to discuss cooperation possibilities in human resources training for Hanoi’s leather and footwear sector.
