Hanoi links vocational training facilities with city enterprises

A recent conference on linking vocational education with the capital city’s labor market focused on cooperation in training, career counseling, vocational enrollment of high school students, and job recruitment sessions.

The conference included 43 vocational training and enrollment consultation booths; 22 booths demonstrating vocational skills, displaying start-ups models, student projects and nine models of self-made training equipment. Hundreds of vocational training institutions helped students and teachers participate in the job recruitment session. Agreements were signed between hundreds of enterprises and vocational training facilities in the city at the event and 30 recruiting enterprises advertised nearly 1,500 jobs.

Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs said the connection between vocational training institutions and enterprises contributes to improving the quality of training and labor productivity and increasing national competitive capacity. The conference was a great opportunity to strengthen links between the two sides, meeting the development needs of businesses, the capital city, the country and its international commitments.

Promoting awareness

To implement policies on vocational education, human resource development, and enhancement of the competitive capacity of the capital, Vice Chairman of Hanoi’s People's Committee of Chu Xuan Dung urged relevant authorities to continue promoting communication on career counseling to raise awareness of the importance of vocational training and skilled human resources development.

Relevant units need to coordinate with the Departments of Education and Training, the People's Committees of districts, the Hanoi Youth Union, and media outlets to organize a Career Advisory Association Day. At the same time, secondary schools, high schools and centers for continuing education are urged to implement the Prime Minister’s 2018 decision (No.522/QD-TTg) on upgrading the quality of vocational education; advising the City People's Committee on solutions to innovate enrollment and training, combining direct and online training, prioritizing high-quality training, re-training, and continuing training associated with labor structuring.

The units are also urged to promote digital transformation and application of information technology in training; further promote support programs for businesses, strengthen links between enterprises and vocational education institutions, create jobs, and support innovative startups for students.
