Hanoi Gift Show 2016

(VEN) - The Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade held the Hanoi Gift Show 2016, with an overall view to support craft producers in promoting their products.

Over the past five years, Hanoi Gift Show events have attracted more than 1,000 craft businesses from 40 provinces and cities across the country. As well as that, they have and more than 2,000 importers from 30 nations and territories, while achieving US$15 million in total export value. This was announced and support by Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, Tran Thi Phuong Lan, at a press conference at the Hanoi Gift Show 2016.

This year’s event attracted up to 250 businesses from 16 provinces and cities across the country that showcase their products in 620 pavilions, which is a 10 percent increase over 2015. There were five groups of craft products on show including fine-arts and home decorations, indoor and outdoor furniture, embroidery and weaving, gifts and ethnic specialties, and jewelry.

Tran Thi Phuong Lan continued to state how the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as the domestic and foreign trade organizations all collaboratively promote the event.

President of the Ha Thai Lacquer-ware Association, Do Hung Chieu, appreciated the show for cost saving and expected some improvements of management.

“Craft businesses should consider the show as a rendezvous to promote investment cooperation, instead of as a market,” said Tran Thi Phuong Lan.

Craft exports accounted for a major percentage in Hanoi’s total exports in the first half of 2016 due to effective training courses and support mechanisms related to loans, land rent and customs procedures.

The Hanoi Gift Show 2016 which is scheduled to take place from October 17-20, 2016 at the National Exhibition Construction Center expects to welcome more than 3,000 commercial visitors and over 600 foreign importers.
