(VEN) - The AW-189 is the latest medium-range helicopter with the most modern technology designed to optimize operations in harsh conditions and perform specific tasks for the oil and gas sector, contributing to greater economic efficiency and providing convenience for customers.

Acceptance of one brand-new AW-189 in Italy

Capt. Le Trong Dong – Director of VNH South said, “The first AW-189 was handed over among the three helicopters from Italy’s AgustaWestland S.p.A following the signed contract, increasing the company’s helicopter fleet to 21 in total. The AW-189 is the latest medium-range helicopter, playing a strategic role in the company’s helicopter fleet in the coming time. The company hopes that the AW-189 would help improve trading and production capability as well as increase competitive advantages at home and abroad, especially in the difficult period of the oil and gas sector in general and the offshore helicopter industry in particular.”

The AW-189 is arranged with 19 seats for maximum take of weight of 8,600kg. The helicopter is powered by two 1,492KW General Electric CT7-2E1 engines for speed of 267-278km per hour. In particular, the spacious cabin is configured with 16 standard seats. An easy dismantling of seats in the cabin for the assembly of rope system and cargo hook makes the AW-189 particularly suitable for special operations. The AW-189 is also ideal for marine flight operations, search and rescue.

Thanks to advantages such as remarkable speed and low noise and vibration, the AW-189 offers maximum convenience for customers.

The AW-189 fully meets the safety standards of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) as well as the requirements of the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (OGP).

The AW-189 is designed with a series of advanced equipment such as the Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning Systems (EGPWS), the Helicopter Terrain Avoidance Warning System (HTAWS) and the Traffic Collision Avoidance Systems (TCAS II) and the Satcom with flight following.

AgustaWestland has received more than 200 orders for the AW-189 from 10 countries including the US, the UK, Russia, Qatar and India, showing that the AW-189 is highly appreciated.
