Da Nang International Terminal helps develop Central Key Economic Zone

The number of foreign passengers passing through Da Nang International Airport increased from more than 2.2 million in 2016 to 3.7 million in 2017 as a result of the new terminal’s operation. According to the Da Nang Department of Tourism’s statistics, in the first half of 2019, foreign visitors arrived in Da Nang through international direct flights reached almost 1.7 million, up nearly 19 percent from the same period in 2018. Thirty-three airlines are operating flights to Da Nang through 40 international air routes, showing the important role of Da Nang International Terminal in promoting local socioeconomic development.

A dynamic and modern environment is something I felt when arriving at Da Nang International Airport,” said Yudai Tsubone from the Southern Cross International Company (Japan). “The terminal is airy, has green spaces and modern equipment, and is by no means inferior to its foreign counterparts in other countries in the region and the rest of the world,” Yudai Tsubone said.

Otake Tomoko from AS Travel (Japan) said she really loves Da Nang, as the city has rich tourism resources associated with cultural, relaxation and culinary tours and experiences. “Particularly, Da Nang has good and modern air transport infrastructure, while the airport offers fast entry procedures and has comfortable, deluxe passenger lounges and international standard convenience stores, whose images will be part of our company’s Da Nang promotion program,” she said.

AHT General Director Le Khac Hong said airport or passenger terminal is something that left the first impression on visitors when they arrive in a country or territory, and therefore Da Nang International Terminal was designed to be a modern, international standard facility with green spaces, which creates significant impact on foreign visitors to the city.

Da Nang International Terminal has a total area of 50,055sq.m, consisting of 20 exit counters, 22 entry counters, 10 gates, two outgoing luggage handling areas, and four ingoing luggage handling areas. The terminal is capable of serving Code E aircrafts. Eleven airlines are exploiting air routes from Da Nang to the Republic of Korea (RoK), accounting for 46.2 percent of all flights from and to Da Nang. Da Nang International Terminal has been in operation for almost three years, and representatives of major airlines from the RoK, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong (China), Chinese Taipei, Japan, Singapore, and Qatar have highly rated the terminal’s quality and services.

With a design capacity of serving up to six million passengers per year, the terminal has 54 check-in counters to allow quick and convenient check-in.

World leading architects designed the Da Nang International Terminal following an idea of getting light from the outside. They designed the terminal roof according to the shape of gull’s wings, while trees are planted in front of the terminal.
