Completing northern industry promotion plan

Nguyen Hong Phong suggested that local industry and trade departments boost industry promotion activities

According to the ARID’s statistics, total industry promotion funding for 28 northern provinces and cities for this year amounts to more than VND112.8 billion.

Thanks to the funding, in the first nine months of the year industry promotion centers in these provinces and cities hosted vocational training for 2,785 workers and business management and startups training for 1,537 people, supported nearly 215 rural industrial facilities to participate in trade fairs and expos, piloted 21 technical demonstration models and assisted 140 rural industrial facilities in technological application.

Industry promotion activities conducted in the first nine months of 2015 were persified with improved quality, contributing to local socioeconomic development. Moreover, industry promotion regulations were basically supplemented and amended. However, there were some difficulties with research and development of industry promotion projects. Particularly, national industry promotion projects received just about 50 percent of the total funding, said Nguyen Hong Phong.

According to Deputy Director of the Thanh Hoa Province Industry Promotion and Energy Conservation Center Hoang Xuan Phong, most local rural industrial facilities are small-scale and are eager to receive provincial industry promotion funding but they failed to meet the funding requirements. Meanwhile, some local large-scale rural industrial facilities neglect provincial industry promotion projects as well as related funding.

Many VND30-40 million industry promotion projects in Ha Giang have been suspended or stopped due to increased costs, said Nguyen Khac Quyen, the Deputy Director of the Ha Giang Province Department of Industry and Trade.

Recognizing this, Nguyen Hong Phong suggested that local industry and trade departments boost industry promotion activities, with a focus on technical and technological demonstration models and industrial park and cluster development programs, rapidly remove difficulties in the implementation of industry promotion projects especially in terms of funding and deployment progress, and coordinate with the ARID to complete the annual industry promotion plan and prepare for next year’s industry promotion plan.
