Building a bright, green, clean and beautiful Hung Yen City

Based on the transformation of the Hung Yen Urban Environment and Public Works One-member Company Limited, Hung Yen UREPCO began operating as a joint stock company on March 20, 2020.

Every year, under an urban public service contract signed with the City People's Committee, the company carries out the daily sweeping and garbage collection work in 155 roads and streets of seven urban wards, with a total length of over 72km of roads and sidewalks. Special-use motorized vehicles are used to transport garbage; specialized suction sweepers are used for sweeping the roadbed; the 28 main roads with a total length of nearly 29km are flushed and washed on a regular basis.

Ensuring the cleanliness of the streets

In addition, the company develops a plan to arrange the collection and transportation of construction waste that people arbitrarily dump in public areas in the city. Hung Yen UREPCO reinforces its services by mobilizing the vehicles to work overtime, and increasing the working hours to ensure environmental sanitation during festivals, major holidays of the year, cultural and political fiestas, and sports events organized by the city, the province, and/or the country.

The total amount of garbage collected per day ranges from 80 to 90 tonnes. All the solid waste collected by the company is transported to the city's solid waste treatment facilities to ensure the compliance with environmental sanitation regulations. Every year, the company collects over 30,000 tonnes of garbage, treats 25,000 tonnes and supplies 5,000 tonnes of waste to the Green Desert (Sa Mac Xanh) Company under a project of waste incineration for electricity generation.

In recent years, despite numerous difficulties facing the Vietnamese economy in general and Hung Yen Province in particular, Hung Yen UREPCO continued performing its heavy tasks in the context of limited funding for urban public service activities. Under the guidance of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, the City Party Committee, and the City People's Committee, and with the support of local people, the company has strived to complete its tasks, contributing to the construction of Hung Yen City, making it bright, green, clean and beautiful as an economic, political, cultural and social center of Hung Yen Province.

The company's development targets for the 2020-2025 period, with a vision to 2030, include upgrading its production teams into affiliated enterprises; building a solid waste treatment zone (Phase 3), applying for a license to invest in building a waste treatment plant; providing consultancy for planning and construction of the city’s cemetery according to the model of a crematorium; procuring more specialized equipment to expand business lines and services within the domain of the company’s operations, not only in Hung Yen but also in neighbouring provinces, using capital effectively, ensuring jobs, improving incomes and living standards for employees.

For its achievements over the past years, the company has received many certificates of merit and high-profile banners. Notably, in 2009, it was awarded the Third-class Labor Medal by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, then it received the Second-class Labor Medal in 2013 and the First-class Labor Medal in 2020.
