Activities bring warm Mid-Autumn Festival to disadvantaged children

1,000 gifts were presented to children in Thua Thien - Hue province at the “Celebrating the Full-Moon Festival” on September 14

Thua Thien–Hue Province’s Department for War Invalids and Social Affairs presented 1,000 gifts to children in the province at the “Celebrating the Full-Moon Festival” on September 14.

A total of 100 poor students from coastal communes in the province were also awarded scholarships worth VND 1 million each by the National Fund for Vietnamese Children at the event.

The Khanh Hoa provincial authorities hosted many programmes for children from September 12-14. A highlight thereof was a “Beloved Moon” festival, which attracted around 1,000 children from the locale. The children were invited to play folk games and enjoy arts performances and were presented with gifts and moon cake boxes.

The Ca Mau Province People’s Committee has allocated VND 300 million from the local budget for gifts for children living in difficult circumstances, orphans and those receiving treatment for terminal illnesses at medical facilities.

More than 2,000 gifts worth VND 150 million in total were delivered to children in remote regions and those living in flood-affected areas in Lao Cai Province in order to help them fully enjoy the Mid-Autumn Festival.

An arts programme entitled “I Love My Country” was held on the evening of September 14 in Lung Cu Commune, Dong Van District, Ha Giang Province. A total of 600 moon cakes, 550 lanterns, 300 milk boxes were awarded to local children, and 83 gifts worth VND 500,000 each were presented to elders, poor students and war invalids at the event.

The same day, the Vietnam Youth Federation held free health check-ups and provided free medicine to 300 locals in Lung Cu Commune. The federation also handed a children’s playground worth VND 50 million to Lung Cu Elementary School’s managing board./.
