Immediately after Vietnam officially received the 2018 World Cup copyright, local football fans were excitedly looking forward to enjoying 64 live matches on TV. Along with that, many accompanying products are also flourishing as fans gear up for the most attractive football tournament this year.

Every World Cup season, large electronics distributors launch attractive shopping programmes with discounts on the sales of TV sets and related goods. This can be considered a time of acceleration for businesses to attract consumers to buy good quality products at the best price.

Shopping centres also make use of various World Cup promotional campaigns, along with games predicting World Cup results to win awards like TVs and smartphones, to attract customers.

New TVs aren’t the only popular purchases, there has also been a boom in sportswear sales as people are gripped with football fever. Nguyen Minh Hoa, an owner of a sportswear shop in Hanoi’s Cau Giay Street, said that customers have flocked to his shop since hearing that Vietnam has bought the rights to screen 2018 World Cup games. Shipping to neighbouring provinces has also rocketed. The national kits of strong teams like Spain or Germany are almost sold out, reflecting the endless passion for football among Vietnamese people.

In addition to that, hotels and restaurants are getting in on the excitement. They are installing large monitors to screen football matches, and offering various discount programmes for customers.
