(VEN) - A workshop was held on May 15 in Hanoi under the theme, “Solutions to Develop Large-scale Agriculture and Apply High Technology”.

A State Bank representative said that they would resolve agricultural credit problems, shift from small-scale to commercial, large-scale, highly-competitive and effective farming following the Agriculture Restructuring Scheme, progressively improve farmer’s livelihoods, and implement the itinerary towards the national new rural development goal.

In recent years the State Bank got together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Science and Technology and credit institutions to choose about 20 models of alliance between businesses and farming households such as the large-scale rice farming model and the product value chain alliance model aimed at a trial run of the credit program targeting major agricultural exports like rice, seafood, livestock, vegetables and secondary crops.

After about two years of the trial run, the State Bank would review it, improve related policies and expand the credit program nationwide.

The workshop was launched under association between Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, State Bank of Vietnam, Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper, and Association of Advanced Technology Enterprises (ATE)./.
