A ground-breaking ceremony was held on May 12 to commence construction on a road connecting the three northern provinces of Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang and Vinh Phuc.
The road, at a cost of VND3,781 billion (US$163.2 million), will have a total length of 42.55 kilometres, allowing maximum speeds of 60-100 kilometers per hour.
According to Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The, this is a key regional project that links three industrial centres in the north as well as connecting with five expressways that are currently under construction and planning.

The road is also expected to create a new development space for Thai Nguyen Province in the future, said The, urging the contractors to ensure the quality and progress of the project.
For his part, Thai Nguyen Chairman Trinh Viet Hung highlighted the importance of the project to the province’s development, which is expected to help attract more investment in manufacturing and tourism and boost local development.
He asked localities where the road traverses to quickly complete site clearance and requested contractors to proceed with construction immediately after the ground-breaking ceremony.
A representative of the contractors pledged to ensure the quality of the road during construction and to complete the project three months ahead of schedule.
