Lavifood Joint Stock Company started the construction of a fruit and vegetable processing plant in Go Dau district, Tay Ninh province, on May 2.
Covering a total area of nearly 15 hectares in Thanh Duc commune, the project is built at a total investment of VND 1.5 trillion (US$66.07 million). The plant incorporates advanced production line and modern technologies from Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Japan.
It includes a production line for fresh fruits and vegetables and heat treatment with a total capacity of 10,000 tonnes a year, a production line for frozen fruit and vegetable with a capacity of 20,000 tonnes, a production line for drying, soft-drying and sublimation drying of fruits and vegetables, and a line for producing condensed fruit juice.
The plant’s products will be exported to the US, European countries, the Republic of Korea, Japan and Australia.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Chairman of Tay Ninh provincial People’s Committee, Pham Van Tan, expressed his belief that the plant will meet the demand of domestic market and export, serving as an important link in developing an agricultural value chain in the province in its integration into the international market while improving local farmers’ incomes.
General Director of Lavifood JSC, Pham Ngo Quoc Thang said, once it is operational at the end of 2018, the plant will target a daily consumption of 500 tonnes of fruits such as mangoes, passion fruits, and dragon, which are grown by farmers in Tay Ninh province.
