The governor recalled his visit to Vietnam, accompanied by Japanese firms in March last year, which opened opportunities to develop partnerships with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and some Vietnamese localities.

Wakayama’s strong points, including tuna fishing and preservation, and high-tech farming, were sectors of common interest back then, he added.

Cuong lauded initiatives suggested by his host, saying he will do his utmost to boost ties between Vietnam’s provinces and Wakayama.

The Vietnamese diplomat was in Wakayama from April 22 to 25 at the invitation of Nikai Toshihiro, President of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance.

During his stay, he met with local authorities, businesses and farmers, and toured the prefecture./.
