Cao Van Chong, general director of the Binh Duong Football Joint Stock Company, was appointed as the new general director of the Vietnam Professional Football Company (VPF) from now to 2017 at the fourth meeting of the VPF’s Board of Directors (2014-2017 tenure) in Ho Chi Minh City on October 28.

Chong has taken the place of Pham Ngoc Vien, who decided to step down after four years in the post. Meanwhile, Vien has been elected to the post of standing vice president of the VPF Board of Directors.
At the meeting, members of the Board of Directors also reached consensus on several important issues relating to the 2016 football season.
Accordingly, the 2016 National Football Championship, known as V-League, will officially open on February 20. The break between the first and second leg of the tournament will be from May 23 to June 9.
The match for the 2015 National Super Cup is scheduled to be held on February 14.
Curtain will raise on the 2016 First Division tournament on April 9.
The revenue from the 2016 season is estimated at over VND131 billion, VND30 billion of which comes from television rights.
The VPF also plans to provide VND22.8 billion in subsidies to football clubs, up 49% against the 2015 season./.
