Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang has viewed reached agreements between Viet Nam and the U.S. will create forces for all related sides to soon conclude the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement negotiations.

TPP negotiations to be concluded soon
In an interview with the press on the achievements attained during Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s recent official visit to the U.S., Mr. Hoang revealed that issues and contents related to the TPP negotiations were referred to at the talks between the Party chief and U.S. President Obama as well as leaders of some U.S. agencies, organizations and the business community.
The two sides consented to realize reforms to meet high demands and comprehensiveness of the TPP, including the implementation of necessary measures to meet the commitments of the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work 1998 with the aims of balancing the benefits and contributing to the two nations’ economics, trade and investment as well as promoting the regional economic cooperation.
Economic, trade cooperation to be expanded
Expressing his belief in further bilateral cooperation in economics and trade in the future, the Minister asserted that after General Secretary Trong’s visit to the U.S., the two countries’ relations will be upgraded to a higher level.
In 2014, two-way trade turnover reached more than US$36 billion. The U.S. ranked seventh among nations and territories investing in Viet Nam. Newly-inked agreements between the two sides will facilitate the cooperation in terms of trade and investment more effectively.
The U.S. side expected that Viet Nam will take measures to encourage and boost cooperation between the two countries. Viet Nam also frankly exchanged and proposed initiatives to the U.S. to tackle trade barriers to Viet Nam’s exports./.
