With this in mind, the company’s Youth Executive Committee launched the “Youth Learn about Electricity” contest, which attracted members of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Vinh Phuc Province and introduced power-saving solutions as well as the efficient use of clean and alternative energies.
PC Vinh Phuc Deputy Director and Trade Union Chairman Phan Thanh An said, “In addition to power-saving programs broadcast on provincial television and radio channels, and power-saving articles on provincial newspapers, we also organize various public awareness activities including parades and rallies, poster campaigns, handing out leaflets, and implementing the Earth Hour campaign. We also have also launched the Power-Saving Family program in Phuc Yen Town, and the Power-Saving Elementary School program in eight districts, covering about 10,000 students, as well as several other local programs on choosing power-saving high-performance devices.”
Last year, PC Vinh Phuc successfully organized the Earth Hour campaign which helped save about 15,000 kWh; the Power-Saving Family program in Trung Nhi Ward, Phuc Yen Town; and the Power-Saving Elementary School program in eight districts. In addition, it signed a cooperation agreement with the provincial Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union on promoting safe and efficient power use for the 2014-2015 period.
Along with boosting energy-efficiency publicity in the province, PC Vinh Phuc has provided consultancy for businesses deploying energy audit programs. For example, it coordinated with the Vietnam Germany Steel Mill JSC and the Partron Vina Co., Ltd to deploy two energy audit programs which were funded by the Electricity of Vietnam Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) for VND100 million each on December 30, 2014. These pilot models will be replicated in Vinh Phuc in the future.
In fact, Vinh Phuc’s power-saving communication activities have significantly contributed to raising the power-saving awareness of local inpiduals, organizations and businesses. In December 2014 alone, the province saved 3,979 million kWh, which was equivalent to 3.3 percent of its commercial electricity output, bringing last year’s total saved power to 29.4 million kWh, which was 0.03 percent beyond the EVNNPC-assigned target.
