Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Vinh Phuc provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Tri introduced the province’s advantages, including favorable geographical conditions, an abundant workforce, and good infrastructure.
As of June, 2016, Vinh Phuc Province attracted 221 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects, including successful ones run by Toyota, Honda (Japan), Piaggio (Italy), Partron Vina, Heasung Vina, Jahwa and Sindoh (the Republic of Korea).
The northern province is a bright spot in terms of economic development in Viet Nam, said Vietnamese Ambassador to the UK Nguyen Van Thao.
The Vietnamese Embassy stands ready to assist UK businesses in studying opportunities in Viet Nam in general and in Vinh Phuc province in particular, he added.
Executive Chairman Paul Smith from the UK’s Harvey Nash Group, which has operated in Viet Nam for more than 15 years, expressed his interest in the local development strategy. He also suggested Vietnamese localities improve foreign language skills for their laborers in order to attract more foreign investors.
The bilateral trade between Viet Nam and the UK has surged sharply since 2010 after the establishment of strategic partnership, in which the two-way trade turnover in 2015 tripled against 2010. Last year, the UK’s direct investment to Viet Nam increased by 35% compared to those of 2014./.
