Metfone received the Gold Award for Marketing Campaign of the Year - Internet / Telecom category with its Colour Race 2015 and a Silver Award in Best New Product / Service of the Year - Telecommunications /Service category for its eMoney, the first e-wallet in Cambodia.

With a market as steady as that in Cambodia, this award means a lot to Metfone’s image as a leading innovative business in developing new products and services to bring real value to Cambodian citizens.

Metfone had to wait for five consecutive years since 2011 to receive its third international award. Previously, the company was also recognised as the Best Service Provider of the year in Emerging Markets in the Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific ICT Award 2010 and the Best Operator in a Developing Market in World Communication Awards 2011.

For Bitel, it won its first international award after four years of presence and two years of operation in Peru with this year’s IBA. Bitel’s internet school project helped the brand win a Silver Award in the Corporate Social Responsibility Programme of the Year - in the Americas category.

The awards are a strong affirmation of the value of internet school programme and social benefits for Peruvians brought about by Bitel. It is also considered a tremendous encouragement after its efforts to assert a position in this difficult market.

Finally, Viettel’s brand in Burundi Lumitel was recognised with a Silver Award in the IBA’s Startup of the Year - Business Services Industries category. This is also the first international award of Lumitel.

Lumitel had different ways in the new market, such as building quality infrastructure networks over a short time, comprehensively applying IT for sale management and registration of smartphone subscribers and actively building distribution channels to the most remote regions.

Thanks to these efforts, Lumitel recorded rapid success despite only opening in 2015. After only four months of operation Lumitel reached a landmark of 1 million customers, accounting for 13% of the country’s population, setting a record for subscriber growth. In terms of revenue, in the second quarter of 2016, it net nearly 31 billion Burundian franc (around US$18 million), up 19% in comparison to the first quarter of the same year.
