Nexttel Cameroon, formerly known as Viettel Cameroon, has celebrated a remarkable milestone with the welcoming of its two millionth mobile phone customer in the Republic of Cameroon in Central Africa.
The company, a wholly owned subsidiary of leading information and technology giant Viettel Group based in Vietnam, has achieved this goal after only nine months of operations in the country.
In making the revelation, Nguyen Hoang Long, general director of the Cameroon subsidiary, expressed the commitment to making more successes in the future.
Long said with a staff 1.500 members strong, over 40,000 sales stations and 97 authorized agents, Viettel is capable of providing services to any region in the Central African nation.
As of the end of May, Nexttel had reached the 2 millionth customer plateau with total revenue reaching US$29 million cumulative to date.
With a 1,100 Base Transceiver Station (BTS), Nexttel has taken the lead in providing 3G mobile internet in Cameroon and is working towards expanding its coverage and reaching its three millionth subscriber later this year./.
