Vietnamese leaders extend congratulations to new Japanese Emperor Naruhito

The Vietnamese Party and State leaders sent congratulatory letters to Japanese Emperor Naruhito on his ascension to the throne on May 1.

General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong sent a letter of congratulations to Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent a congratulatory message to Japanese PM Shinzo Abe, while National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan sent a congratulatory message to President of the House of Councillors Chuichi Date and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tadamori Oshima.

In his letter, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong expressed his belief that the Japanese people would record even greater achievements in national development in the Reiwa Era and that, with the consensus and efforts of the two countries’ Governments and people, the extensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia between Vietnam and Japan will develop in a more effective and substantive manner.

On the occasion, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh sent a congratulatory message to Crown Prince Akishino, while Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh sent his congratulations to Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono.
