(VEN) - Leading Vietnamese brands continued their long-term presence at Ambiente 2019, the world's most important annual trade fair for consumer goods, in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
Over five exciting days (8-12 February 2019), Ambiente hosted 4,451 exhibitors from 92 countries. This year, Vietnam had nearly 60 participating companies, stamping a distinct Vietnamese identity on the trade fair.
New trends, deep connections
Ambiente is not just a leading international trade fair, it also tops the world in products associated with dining, cooking, household items, furnishings and ornaments, interior design, gifts, jewellery and fashion accessories. For all these industries, it is the show.
The breadth and width of Ambiente allows for the presentation of an unrivalled product range.
Ambiente 2019 kicked off the international trends for the year with products designed towards elegance, warmth, environmental friendliness with subtle and creative styles evoking joy, harmony and tranquility in the living space and its surroundings.
With an exhibition space of 306,500 m2, Ambiente 2019 delivered an experience to remember for the participants, connecting 136,000 visitors from 166 countries to exhibitors, 15% of whom were from Germany and 85% from other countries. Many exhibitors achieved their goals at this year's trade fair, and making more connections than the previous year.
Detlef Braun, Member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt GmbH, said: “Here at Ambiente we can still feel the hustle and bustle of world trade, even if there are already quite a few signs of a downturn in the economic outlook. Using Ambiente as a trading hub, consumer goods manufacturers from the entire world target both local and regional markets – all over the world. Here in February, therefore, the signals are set for the entire year, 2019, and beyond. This is impressively borne out by the number of orders and the quality of both German and international buyers”.
The top ten visitor nations after Germany were Italy, China, France, the UK, the Netherlands, the United States, Spain, Switzerland, Russia and South Korea. Satisfaction ratings among visitors remained at a high and robust level of 94 per cent. Significant increases in visitors were recorded from the entire world this year, particularly from South America, with countries such as Brazil, Ecuador and Mexico, from Europe with the UK, Spain, the Netherlands and Russia, and from Asia, with China, Thailand and India. Exhibitors at Ambiente agreed that the quality and large number of visitors were ideal.
Connecting Vietnamese goods
Among Southeast Asian countries, Vietnam had the largest number of businesses participating in Ambiente 2019. With an established presence of many years, Vietnamese booths attracted visitors from all over the world with the most sophisticated handicraft products of high quality, meeting export standards in fastidious markets like Europe and the United States.
At Ambiente 2019, international buyers had the opportunity to connect, promote cooperation and expand trade in direct exchanges with nearly 60 Vietnamese companies, including familiar brands like Minh Long I, Hasa, Thien Thuong, Lacquerworld, Green Living, Duc Thanh, Manh Dan, Kien Lam, Craft Link, Haprosimex Saigon, Viet Garden, Hong Ha, Doan Potters, Haca, Cat Dang Bamboo, Artex Dong Thap and Dai Dong Tien.
Tong Ba Thao, Director, Hasa - Vietnam Arts & Crafts, said Ambiente was a large-scale fair that brought many export opportunities. Hasa has attended Ambiente for 15 years. This year, 80% of the products displayed by Hasa were new.
Nguyen Huu Hung, CEO of Artex Dong Thap, said it was the fourth time that his company was participating in the fair, bringing superior products made with water hyacinth and rush. At the exhibition, Artex Dong Thap met with real buyers and promoted its business. Hung said he believed that his company's products had many advantageous when competing with similar products from other countries because they were handmade with Vietnamese natural materials. It got orders from Germany and most other EU countries.
Nguyen Manh Dan, Director, Manh Dan Ceramic Company Limited said that his company had been coming to Ambiente for 10 years. The company's customers at the fair were mainly from the United States and Europe. This year, the company had new, more attractively designed booth that drew more visitors than in previous years, raising expectations of more new customers. Speaking from past experience, Dan said that to attract visitors and get more customers at the exhibition, businesses should focus on product design and their own strengths.
Duong Thi Thanh Thuy, Managing Director, Lacquerworld company LTD., said that Ambiente was a fair with great potential for consumer goods. At Ambiente 2019, the company exhibited new samples with new colors (more than 30%). Lacquerworld, which has been coming to Ambiente for 13 years, has noticed that after the fair, the company has about 20% news customers. Thuy felt that companies should prepare booths large enough to present their products in the best light, and have new products that will attract many visitors and potential customers.
Dinh Viet Thuan, Export Marketing Department, Duc Thanh Wood Processing JSC., said that Ambiente 2019 marked the 14th time the company was attending the fair. He said Ambiente was a very big fair that enabled the company to meet customers from all over the world and discuss market trends in each region. In addition, the company figured out what models need to be improved to keep up with world trends and penetrate target markets. Ambiente was also an opportunity to connect with Vietnamese businesses and discuss the general exports situation, he said.
Sandy Nguyen, Board of Director, Green Living Co. Ltd., said in its seventh year of participation at Ambiente, the Vietnamese company exhibited hundreds of new models. She expected that after the fair this year, the company would have new customers from Canada besides traditional customers from the United States and Europe. Sandy said the company gets many customers at the fair because its products are made from typical natural materials of Vietnam. In addition, Green Living focuses on providing many new models that keep up with the international market's tastes. Besides, when exporting to Europe, the company's products meet strict standards on production process, environment and other factors. Sandy said that Ambiente is a prestigious event in the industry that generates many opportunities, so Green Living will participate in the fair next year.
The next Ambiente will be held from February 7- 11, 2020.
