(VEN) - At the seventh meeting of the UK-Vietnam Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO 7) held on January 7 in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Ho Thi Kim Thoa said that the UK-Vietnam bilateral trade reached US$4.3 billion in 2013 compared with the annual target of US$4 billion.

By the end of last November, 173 British projects with total registered capital of US$2.8 billion were operational in Vietnam.

This year the two countries will boost cooperation in areas such as civil nuclear power and urban development. UK Minister without Portfolio Grant Shapps said that the UK would strongly support Vietnam in its negotiations on the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement and share its experience in organizing the London 2012 Olympic Games in order for Vietnam to successfully host the 2019 Asian Games (ASIAD 18)./.
