Vietnam values its relations with Japan and appreciates an initiative to establish the Vietnam-Japan University in Vietnam.

President Tran Dai Quang was speaking this at a reception for the Special Advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance, Tsutomo Takebe, in Hanoi on April 21.
The guest informed the host of the progress of the Japan-Vietnam University project, adding that the university will begin operation with its first master’s course on September 9, 2016.
He said President of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance Nikai Toshihiro had suggested establishing a climate change response centre under the university after the first course opens.
President Tran Dai Quang for his part affirmed his nation's willingness to coordinate with the Japanese side to facilitate the effective operation of the university and welcomes the establishment of the climate change response centre.
He also said more cultural exchanges should be conducted to deepen mutual understanding between the the two nations./.
