Vietnam Expo 2019: Connecting and sharing for mutual success

(VEN) - Over the past 28 years, the Vietnam International Trade Fair (Vietnam Expo) has become one of the biggest trade promotion activities and brought an important meaning for the Vietnamese industry and trade sector, helping Vietnamese businesses increase exports and develop the domestic market, and contributing to the implementation of the government’s commitments in the international economic integration process.

Trade opportunities

Vietnam Expo 2019 - Connecting and Sharing for Mutual Success - took place in Hanoi from April 10 to 13, drawing 500 businesses from 23 countries and territories. The event featured 600 pavilions, including from Algeria, Cuba, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea and China. There was a special display area for creative and high-quality products from 15 local trade promotion centers.

According to the annual statistics, there are more than 15,000 visitors to work and attend seminars within the framework of Vietnam Expo.

A special feature that creates the fair’s attraction is diverse and unique products in the groups of electrical, electronic, information technology, and security and safety equipment; industrial and agricultural machines and equipment, engineering, hand tools and hardware; foodstuff, beverage, and agricultural products; handicrafts, interior and exterior decoration.

The Vietnam Value area is a place where Vietnamese enterprises honored with the Vietnam Value title can exhibit their locally-made products and services. Those include the Da Nang Rubber Joint Stock Company, Duy Tan Plastics Corporation, Dien Quang Lamp Joint Stock Company, and Hanoi Trade Joint Stock Corporation (Hapro).

A special display area for creative and high-quality products saw the participation of 15 local trade promotion centers such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Duong, Yen Bai and Binh Thuan. Through this area, visitors had a better overview in terms of changes from design to product quality.

Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc from the Vietnam-Russia Joint Venture Bank (VRB) said, “We have chosen to participate in Vietnam Expo to introduce a new financial service package, with the desire to attract more international visitors. Our central goal is to attract Korean firms, who are working and investing in Vietnam.”

The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) has joined Vietnam Expo for more than 20 years, with persistent efforts in promoting development of businesses and the goal of strengthening market expansion and long-term cooperation. It is estimated that there are about 200 business matching sessions arranged in advance with targeted customers in many product groups, which are the Republic of Korea’s strengths such as electronics, aesthetic technology, and healthcare services.

Outstanding activities

A new feature of Vietnam Expo 2019 is a series of outstanding activities as a way to further enhance advertisement, promote investment attraction and strengthen skills for the business community.

One of the outstanding activities is a workshop on investment promotion for industrial development organized by the Vietrade’s Investment Promotion Center for Industry and Trade (Investprocen) in coordination with the concerned agencies. At the workshop, experts and speakers will make clear the advantages and disadvantages of globalization in trade and production. To be able to build and develop brands, and create a foothold in the world market, the participation in the global value chains is an inevitable direction. Producers will link together to form a value chain. This model will attract the participation of material and variety suppliers, processing units, exporters, transporters, distributors and retailers.

A training program about online sales on Amazon shares experiences and guides businesses on procedures for registration, transportation and brand recognition in an easier manner. It is known that the “Supporting Vietnamese enterprises to boost exports via Amazon” program implemented by the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency and the Amazon Global Selling in late February attracted the participation of more than 800 businesses.

A forum on Vietnam’s export promotion is also one of the outstanding activities organized annually by the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency, contributing to promoting production capacity, and devising solutions to make the most of benefits provided by new-generation free trade agreements in order to help raise Vietnam’s position in the international arena.

After significant successes and positive contributions to increased competitiveness of goods and services via design, the Korea-Vietnam Product Development and Design Support pavilion continues to be implemented in cooperation between the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency and the Korea Institute of Design Promotion. The Vietnam Industry Development and Investment Promotion pavilion with impressive design will provide updated information about the Vietnamese investment environment for investors and organizations. It will also introduce the strengths, investment attraction policies and commitments of local authorities of seven provinces and cities like Dong Thap, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City, Kien Giang, Thanh Hoa, and Yen Bai.
