(VEN) - Themed “Enhancing Regional and Global Economic Links”, the 27th Vietnam International Trade Fair (Vietnam Expo 2017) is one of the significant events ushering in APEC Vietnam 2017. The April fair in the nation’s capital is expected to promote effective trade between Vietnam and dozens of countries in the region and worldwide.

The Republic of Korea (RoK) has been invited to be the Country of Honor at Vietnam Expo 2017.

Last year, the fair attracted the participation of 111 South Korean companies with a wide range of products such as cosmetics, food and beverages, textiles, garments, and consumer goods. These kinds of goods enjoy tariff cuts under a roadmap specified in the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the RoK, which took effect in December 2015.

Vietnam Expo 2017 will present various kinds of Vietnamese goods, many of which have won the Vietnam Value title, such as plastics for industrial and domestic uses, tires, tubes and other rubber products, electricity meters, electrical wires and cables.
An export promotion forum, survey visits to industrial zones, and business meetings will be organized as part of the fair to create more added value for participating companies.

Vietnam Expo 2017 will designate areas where domestic and foreign businesses can learn about trade promotion tools and seek consultations on appropriate investment policies and improved design capabilities. For example, the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency’s pavilion will present the major industrial parks of some provinces and cities and provide businesses with investment consultancy.

Vietnam Expo 2017 is expected to attract the participation of more than 500 businesses from 23 countries and territories, including APEC members, with nearly 600 pavilions. The organizing board has received registration applications from Belarus, Uganda, Singapore, Czech Republic, Japan, Malaysia, India, the Republic of Korea, China, and many Vietnamese businesses.
Vietnam’s hosting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum this year is hoped to provide the Vietnamese business community great development opportunities, while at the same time encouraging businesses from APEC member countries to invest in Vietnam. Vietnam Expo 2017 therefore is believed to be a major trade and investment promotion event in the 21st century.

Vietnam Expo 2017 will take place from April 19-22, at the Hanoi International Exhibition Center.
