The launch is well attended by representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), representatives of Departments of Industry and Trade and more than 60 representatives from local industrial companies.

The Award is a part of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (4E) Project, implemented by the Department of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development of MoIT and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The award, which is organized by Vietnam Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency Association (VECEA) with the support from GIZ, has been running from 20 November 2017 until end of January 2018. All Industrial enterprises operating in Vietnam, that have annual energy consumption from 300 TOE and carried out Energy Efficiency solutions from 2011 to 2016, are eligible to apply.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Do Huu Hao, Chairman of Vietnam Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency Association, Head of the Organizing board said: “The objective of the award is to provide recognition to local industrial companies that had outstanding results in saving energy and promote successful energy efficiency solutions. It also aims at raising awareness of business communities across the country on energy efficiency.”

“In Vietnam, the industry represents 47% of the total energy consumption. Saving energy in the industry therefore should be a high priority not only to reduce energy costs but also for companies to stay competitive. Knowing about and reproducing good initiatives on energy efficiency by fellow companies can be a very good way for an enterprise to save energy easily. The award is a timely and meaningful initiative, as it connects companies and empowers them to improve energy efficiency by sharing and learning from each other”, said Ms. Sonia Lioret, Head of GIZ’s 4E project.

As part of the award, National Winners will be defined in two categories including Best energy efficiency solutions, Original and Innovation energy efficiency solutions. The Winners will be able to receive Certificate from the Ministry of Industry and Trade/VECEA. They will also be featured in the Ministry’s website http://Tietkiemnangluong.com.vn, on local media and national television channels besides having chance to meet and exchange with leading energy experts in Vietnam.
