In her opening speech at the fair on April 12, German Chancellor Angela Merkel suggested Germany and Europe to further push up industrial manufacturing and technological advancement.

Regarding bilateral trade between Germany and India-  her nation's partner in the trade fair, Angela Merkel said trade links can be improved even though Germany has been India’s largest European trading partner.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in turn, called for more foreign direct investment from Germany and the European Union, affirming his nation's willingness to create a stable economic environment with incentive policies for investors in line with simplified administration procedures and tax reforms.

The 68th Hannover Messe focuses on the five key areas of industrial automation and information technology, energy and environmental engineering, power transmission and control, industrial subcontracting and production engineering, and research and development.

The industrial event running through April 17 is expected to attract 213,000 visitors.
