Viet Nam Fisheries International Exhibition (Vietfish 2016) was kicked off on August 3, at Sai Gon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) in HCMC.
Under the theme of “Asia’s Home of Seafood”, Vietfish 2016 was hosted by the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) and attracted nearly 200 big local and foreign enterprises from 14 countries and territories like Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Germany, the United States, Turkey and the Republic of Korea to participate in over 350 booths.
Participants showcased their best seafood products and new technologies.
Besides, the event also included a number of workshops on Viet Nam and the world seafood industry with a variety of topics from fisheries certification to application.
The event will last until August 5.
Through 17 exhibitions, Vietfish has received a large number of positive feedbacks from the domestic and foreign enterprises.
Viet Nam is currently the world’s third biggest aquaculture producer and the world’s fourth largest seafood exporter, said Chairman of the VASEP Ngo Van Ich.
The Southeast Asian country is now among the biggest catfish, basa fish and shrimp exporters in the world, he said.
According to Mr. Ich, the country has also become an attractive place that can meet demands for various products, from squid, octopus, tuna and other fishes to processed products for luxury markets./.
