(VEN) - The Vietnam Airport Ground Services Company Limited (VIAGS) not only contributes to the making of the Vietnam Airlines flights with four-star standard, but also is evaluated and voted by international airlines as one of the few ground service providers that offers the best quality of services in the region. This result has shown its youth strength after nearly three years of restructuring.
VIAGS was established on January 1, 2016 through the merger of three ground service enterprises, each at Noi Bai, Da Nang and Tan Son Nhat airports. VIAGS is the first business in Vietnam to specialize in consistent ground services for airlines. With the goals of building a comprehensive community, providing optimal solutions in ground services, and bringing the best experience for customers, VIAGS has always been aiming to ensuring safety and security of its flights.
In the first half of the year, VIAGS served 61,693 flights, an increase of 3.84 percent compared to the same period in 2017. VIAGS recorded 59 cases of employees picking up and handling back property with high value for passengers.
In 2017, VIAGS received 16 awards for its service quality by prestigious airlines such as Singapore Airlines, Korean Air, and Cathay Pacific. In particular, VIAGS Tan Son Nhat, a subsidiary of the VIAGS, was rated by the five-star Eva Air of Chinese Taipei as having the second best passenger services on its entire flight network across the world. Since the beginning of the year, the company has received 10 awards for its service quality by famous airlines such as Korean Air, ANA, MH and CX.
In 2018, Vietnam Airlines has been certified with a four-star airline rating by prestigious international air transport rating organization Skytrax. This is the third consecutive year Vietnam Airlines has achieved this accolade as the airline continues to deliver an outstanding flying experience for all its customers. Of which, VIAGS has been selected as the primary provider of ground services for major events held in Vietnam such as ITE, TPO, WEF ASEAN, and GEF.
VIAGS Deputy General Director Truong Phuong Thanh said that currently, VIAGS serves nearly 600 commercial flights, more than 90,000 passengers and some 3,300 tonnes of goods per day to Noi Bai, Da Nang and Tan Son Nhat international airports. Its on-time performance stands at 99.96 percent, far above its commitment. During the summer peak season, VIAGS deploys some 5,000 employers to its service chain across the north, central and south of Vietnam to serve nearly 70 airlines, accounting for 58 percent of Vietnam’s ground service market share.
In particular, at the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week organized in Da Nang in November 2017, VIAGS provided services for 47 special aircraft to and from 17 countries and territories, including Russia, Japan, China and the Republic of Korea.
