(VEN) - The Van Dien Fused Magnesium Phosphate Fertilizer Joint Stock Company (VADFCO), formerly the Van Dien Phosphate Fertilizer Plant, had an initial capacity of 20,000 tonnes per year. The company has developed and become a leading phosphate fertilizer producer nationwide now boasting an annual capacity of 450,000 tonnes. All of the production equipment, technology, and materials used by VADFCO are domestically-produced.
With chartered capital of over VND289.7 billion, VADFCO supplies the market with more than 300,000 tonnes of fertilizers each year and has become the largest anthracite-based phosphate fertilizer producer in Southeast Asia. Currently, phosphate fertilizer sales account for 69-74 percent of the company’s total revenue; and NPK fertilizers 26-31 percent. Van Dien has become a reliable Vietnamese fertilizer brand winning consumer trust.
VADFCO General Director Hoang Van Tai said that in the 2011-2015 period the company encountered numerous difficulties in the reorganization process to become a joint stock company. The spread of counterfeit products was among big difficulties facing fertilizer businesses during that period.
Despite these difficulties, VADFCO has taken suitable measures to improve product and service quality while at the same time reducing production costs to enhance the competitiveness of Van Dien fertilizers in comparison with domestic and foreign products of the same categories. Thanks to these efforts, the company has maintained its stable growth and achieved good results. To bring into play the strength of the entire company staff, VADFCO has launched role-model campaigns in each pision to promote the creativity and capability of each member.
The company’s leadership and the heads of all pisions have proposed measures to deal with problems that arose in production, creating favorable conditions for each worker to bring into play their autonomy and creativity, and participate in research activities to create new, suitable technical solutions for application in production.
VADFCO’s achievements were attributed to its leadership’s decision to invest in scientific research and apply modern management methods in production and trade. Hundreds of initiatives, including seven patents and registered solutions, have been successfully applied in production, helping the company overcome difficulties and laying the foundation for it to develop in a sustainable manner.
Domestic and foreign customers believe Van Dien fertilizers are multi-nutrient natural mineral fertilizers that are environmentally friendly and suitable for use in organic farming to create clean agricultural products. Van Dien fertilizers can be used for almost all kinds of soil and plant, winning growing farmer trust.
Over the last five years, 65 initiatives have been applied in production, helping VADFCO reduce the production cost by tens of billions of dong, while at the same time improving the working condition. Compared with the 2010-2014 period, company revenue grew six percent, profits up 33 percent, production output rose one percent, and sales volume increased four percent. Its profits have grown year after year. The company is concentrating on promoting the construction of a new fertilizer plant in Thanh Hoa Province’s Bim Son Town, with an annual capacity of 500,000 tonnes of phosphate fertilizers and 200,000 NPK fertilizers, for domestic sale and export.
According to General Director Hoang Van Tai, the company has concentrated on producing environmentally friendly fertilizers for use in organic farming, clean agriculture, and coping with climate change. Company products have accounted for a growing share in the domestic market as well as difficult-to-please export markets such as Australia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Chinese Taipei, and Malaysia. To further develop in a sustainable manner in the time to come, VADFCO will continue taking suitable technical measures as well as market and human resource development efforts in order to improve product quality, reduce the production cost, and protect the environment. At the same time, the company will continue to bring into play the creativity of its staff members through role-model campaigns to ensure successful implementation of its production and business plans, and improve worker’s lives.
