Nguyen Thi Le Nam Em from Tien Giang province has been crowned the first Miss Mekong Delta 2015 on the final night of the pageant, which concluded in Can Tho.

Born in 1996, Nam Em stands at 1.71 meter tall and is a student of the Military University of Culture and Arts. She defeated 30 other contestants from provinces in the Mekong Delta to win the crown, along with the title, she received a cash prize of VND 300 million (US$14,000).

First runner-up Nguyen Nguyen Huynh Truc Mai received VND 150 million (US$7,000) and second runner-up Vuong Thanh Tuyen received VND70 million (US$3,400).

The organisers also awarded other titles such as Miss Talent, Miss Tourism and Miss Ao Dai, among others. Each winner will receive over VND 20 million (US$920).

The event was broadcasted live on HTV9, VTV Can Tho and CT43, and other provincial TV channels.

As part of the Mekong Delta Green Tourism Week, the pageant offered contestants a chance to take part in a number of cultural and social activities, as well as the pageant./.
