The exhibitions include, the Industrial Components & Subcontracting Vietnam 2015 (ICS Vietnam 2015), the 6th Vietnam – Japan Supporting Industries Exhibition (SIE 2015), and the Vietnam Manufacturing Expo 2015 (VME 2015).

The three-day event has attracted the participation of 57 enterprises from Japan and 44 domestic companies producing spare parts and accessories to showcase their products.

The exhibitions were organised by the Hanoi municipal People's Committee in collaboration with the Department of Trade Promotion under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Hanoi’s Centre for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion, Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), and Thailand’s Reed Tradex Company.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Hoang Quoc Vuong said that the three concurrent exhibitions will act as a bridge to help domestic and foreign firms operating in the field to boost co-operation and seek long-term investment opportunities. This is also an opportunity to promote the development of Vietnam's industrial sector in the creation of competitive and high added value export products, as well as in facilitating the development of the domestic market.

Executive Vice President of JETRO Soichi Yoshimura noted that over the last seven years JETRO has consistently held annual exhibitions in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in order to continue contributing to the development of supporting industries in Vietnam and promote business connections between Vietnam’s potential suppliers of spare parts with Japanese manufacturers.

Also at the event, a contest for welders was jointly held by the Vietnam-Germany Technology Transfer and Training Centre and the Reed Tradex Company in the search for skilled welders. The two units also held an advanced class for engineers with the objective of promoting and consolidating expertise for engineers with specialised knowledge.

To create networking opportunities among businesses, the organising board has developed a business connection programme to provide necessary elements for the competitiveness of businesses. Also within SIE 2015, a Business Connection Day will be held on September 11 to tighten co-operative ties between Japanese and Vietnamese manufacturers./.
